Where is Sajek Valley?

The valley is bordered by Tripura, India, to the north, Langadu in Rangamati to the south, Mizoram, India, to the east, and Dighinala in Khagrachari to the west. Although Sajek is part of Rangamati district, it is more easily accessible from Dighinala in Khagrachari.

The distance to Sajek Valley is 70 kilometers from the Khagrachari district headquarters, 49 kilometers from Dighinala, and 34 kilometers from Baghaihat.

How To Get In Sajek Valley

By Road:

To travel from Dhaka to Khagrachari, you can take a bus from popular transport operators such as Hanif Enterprise, Saudia, St. Martin Hyundai, Imperial Express, Desh Travels, Shyamoli, Shanti Paribahan, S Alam, and Eagle.

The fare for non-AC buses ranges from 750 to 850 taka. Most buses depart for Khagrachari around 10 PM. Tickets can be booked at various counters across Dhaka, including locations like Gabtoli and Kalabagan. If you’re planning to travel during holidays, it’s recommended to book tickets in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

By Air or Rail:

If you prefer to travel by air or rail, you’ll first need to go from Dhaka to Chittagong. From there, buses are the only option to reach Khagrachari.

BRTC AC buses operate four times daily from Kadamtali in Chittagong, with a fare of 200 taka. Alternatively, Shanti Paribahan buses are available every hour from Oxygen Junction. The journey from Chittagong to Khagrachari takes approximately 4-5 hours.
After reaching Khagrachari, you can travel to Sajek Valley by Chander Gari (a locally adapted 4WD vehicle) or a CNG auto-rickshaw.

Additionally, fruits like papaya, pineapple, and bananas are available at very affordable prices in Sajek, so be sure not to miss out on trying them.

There are about a hundred resorts and cottages available for stay in Sajek. The cost for a one-night stay ranges from 1,500 taka to 15,000 taka, depending on the resort.

If you’re planning a trip during the holiday season, it’s advisable to book at least a month in advance to ensure availability and secure a good room. For a more affordable option, you can opt to stay in tribal cottages.
